Digitalk once again exhibited at [**MVNO Nation Live**](https://www.mvnonationlive.com/) this year. The event took place immediately following the recent floods in the Valencia region, so the mood was tempered throughout by concern for those who had suffered and were dealing with the aftermath. Perhaps because of that context there was an even greater atmosphere of community and collaboration, with some participants also taking time out to volunteer in the recovery efforts.

At the event itself, some key themes were developed, in particular **eSIM, 5G and AI**. There was a particular focus on travel and roaming services, presumably following emergence from the Covid-19 pandemic over the last 2-3 years, allowing people to resume international travel, whether for business or pleasure.

Global operators offer seamless, carrier-agnostic connectivity worldwide based on eSIMs. This approach suits international travellers, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards while supporting flexible, scalable business models.

In fact, eSIM is increasingly seen as the default model for mobile services, allowing the full digitalisation of customer acquisition and engagement, and making it easier for users to have multiple subscriptions across different providers on a single device. The role of eSIMs in relation to IoT was also discussed, in particular how the **new GSMA SGP.32 eSIM standards** should drive greater efficiency and security for new services from IoT MVNOs.

Exploration of the potential opportunities with 5G and AI is ongoing. Other than providing even greater speed and lower latency (as well as greater density and longer-term cost savings to mobile operators), a key opportunity for 5G is with **private networks**, both because of the ability for a lightweight mobile deployment and the lower need to inter-operate with other networks. Nonetheless, host mobile operators are moving to **5G Standalone** and MVNOs are going to need to be ready.

AI is – and always has been – a movable feast, with machine learning delivering greater insights into services and customers, and more recently Large Language Models (LLMs) potentially opening up new opportunities to enhance business processes all the way from new service development through marketing and promotions to customer engagement.

Overall, despite the recent tragic events, MVNO Nation Live once again delivered the opportunity to share and discuss both past experiences and new ideas to develop the wide range of mobile services that can be offered by MVNOs.
