telephony in a given country or region. Fixed carriers on the other hand have focused on providing guaranteed bandwidth to
businesses between major commercial centres. Both fixed operators and carriers have been investing significantly in NGN and
3GPP IMS networks to be able to offer a broader range of value-added services available over multiple access networks on a
basis that is cost-effective longer term.
The imperative for fixed network operators and carriers now is to overlay next generation network infrastructure with a

The Media Application Server in particular has been integrated with multiple softswitch vendors, including Sonus and Cisco.
