Tiscali
As VoIP becomes an integral part of the domestic broadband mix, reliability, security and scalability
start to become essential issues for any service provider looking to protect and grow their brand’s reputation.
As a result, many of the early open-source VoIP platforms that service providers used to first launch their
services are now failing to deliver either technologically and commercially. Without an appropriate VoIP
platform that has been specifically designed to deal with the challenges of a fast maturing and highly
competitive marketplace, the many strategic cost, performance and customer loyalty benefits of VoIP and
rich communications services will fail to be realised.

offering will target customers that may have been illegible to use other services with high-margin
international calling packages by taking advantage of the liability protection offered by a
prepaid solution. DIGITALK’s MSP has been integrated into the new WIND service delivery platform,
which has been developed by Monaco-based software company ITS.

Network Consolidation
A large Incumbent Carrier, based in Europe, was faced with one of the key issues that many Service
Providers face in today’s environment of increasing pressure on service margins and price competition;
that is how to fundamentally reduce operational expenditure whilst having the flexibility to rapidly
deliver new revenue earning services into the network. When a network has grown over time it may
not operate in the most efficient way, and in this case a range of services within the same product
portfolio, supporting a range of prepaid applications, were using separate networking platforms,
which was having a direct effect on service margins.
