Session Border Controller

The foundation for carrier interconnect success

The foundation of our Carrier Platform is the VoIP Peering Session Border Controller (SBC), a high availability, high performance and high capacity server supporting SIP, SIP-T and H.323 signaling.

With its signalling inter-working and dynamic transcoding capabilities, DIGITALK’s VoIP Peering SBC enables service providers to integrate flexibly with new customers and suppliers to maximise both revenue opportunities and margins.

Carrier interoperability

With a wide variety of VoIP carriers and wholesale service providers in the market, each running distinct switches and gateways, service providers need to be able to adapt to a variety of signalling and media options. The signalling inter-working and media transcoding capabilities of the DIGITALK Session Border Controller enable service providers to support a wide variety of carrier interconnects.

Signalling inter-working

  • Signalling protocol inter-working (SIP, SIP-T and H.323)
  • Flexible SIP header manipulation
  • Carrier tech prefix insertion / removal
  • Configurable called and calling party address manipulation
  • Retry call attempts based on configurable failure reason

Media transcoding

  • Dynamic, scalable audio codec transcoding, including:
  • G.711, G.723, G.726, G.728, G.729, GSM, iLBC
  • DTMF interworking (RFC2833, Inband and SIP INFO)
  • Video and fax relay (H.261, H.263, H.264 and T.38)

High availability and scalability

Service availability and growth are key to carriers and wholesale service providers, so the DIGITALK Session Border Controller offers the following high availability and scalability features:
