Leading Dutch operator Hilf Telecom expands services using DIGITALK

Hilf Telecom, the fast-growing Dutch alternative operator, is planning to launch a host of innovative new services based on the DIGITALK Multiservice Platform (MSP) as it moves to become a complete alternative solution provider for residential and business customers.

The operator, which offers a full range of residential and business telephony services in the Netherlands, has already launched a telephony access service using 0900 numbers in Holland based on the DIGITALK platform, called Belbazaar (www.belbazaar.nl). The service offers users highly cost-effective calling rates to a range of international locations. To use the service, the customer simply dials an access number followed by the international number they wish to call using an IVR system.

The service has been so successful in the Dutch market, that Hilf Telecom launched an equivalent service in the UK, Bellbazar (www.bellbazar.co.uk).

“We have been a DIGITALK customer for over two years and they have provided the support we needed to grow to where we are today,” said Ofer Hilf, Managing Director, Hilf Telecom. “We originally chose DIGITALK because of its best-in-class real-time rating engine that gave us the zero financial liability we needed, but since then we have expanded the platform to deploy a range of services that will help us fulfil our ambitions as a business.”

Hilf Telecom is able to offer some of the country’s lowest international call rates as it is able to interconnect with some of the most cost-effective international telephony providers. Hilf has successfully applied for an SS7 interconnection with KPN, the Dutch incumbent operator, to both improve interconnect rates and to maximise service quality. Hilf is one of the longest standing alternative operators in the Netherlands, having held a license from the Dutch regulator, OPTA, for nearly 10 years. Hilf was also one of the first operators to launch a full Carrier PreSelect (CPS) services for both residential and business services, and has full number portability capabilities through its membership of the Dutch COIN organisation, which manages number porting between service providers.

“Hilf is one of the great success stories in the Dutch market and is using the DIGITALK platform to extend their network reach and service delivery, which shows the inherent flexibility of the platform,” said Mark Ashdown, Sales and Marketing Director, DIGITALK.

Hilf has also developed a range of Broadband Telephony services and uses the DIGITALK platform to provide full authentication and call rating, and is using the DIGITALK e-commerce solution to support their iDeal payments platform.
