Italian telecoms services provider Teleunit is to significantly expand its wholesale voice service portfolio using the DIGITALK MultiService Platform (MSP).
The company, which is listed on London’s Alternative Investment Market (AIM), is using the DIGITALK platform to provide carrier-to-carrier international call routing and mobile termination services.
“We strongly believe in DIGITALK’s platform as a way of strengthening our presence in the Italian wholesale and international calling markets,” said Francesco Cimica, CEO. Teleunit.
Teleunit completed implementation of the DIGITALK platform late last year and has now migrated the majority of its wholesale customers to the new system.
Current Teleunit wholesale customers include Telecom Italia’s international calling arm, Telecom Italia Sparkle, and leading Italian alternative operators Tele2, FastWeb and COLT Telecom. These customers use the DIGITALK-powered service to handle mobile terminations, for example matching recently ported numbers to the correct operator, and for international call routing.
The platform is also being used to provide international call functionality, via resellers, to phone shops that specialise in international calling, such as those that target expatriate and ethnic communities wanting to keep in touch with friends and family back home.
Teleunit is now planning to grow its customer base by launching a host of new international calling services on the DIGITALK platform that will build upon its existing VoIP, wholesale and mobile premium access services.
“Wholesale is becoming a promising market for DIGITALK. Our Multiservice platform has the capability to offer operators new ways to generate revenue with the minimum infrastructure. Teleunit’s success is just another example of this.” Mark Ashdown, Sales and Marketing Director, DIGITALK.
